NHS-R Workshop: Intermediate R – 25 & 26 June 2024 with Anya Ferguson

Course Description:

A follow on course from the introduction course. It is assumed that you have a basic knowledge of R and the tidyverse. The course is a number of tutorials and then worked examples by the student.

We will do some data manipulation with base R.
Basic data tidying and prep
Advanced dpylr wrangling
Alternative joins and concatenation
Slicing data
Fancy filtering
Grouped mutates
Pivot wider and longer
Rolling functions
Row numbers
Date manipulation
Intro to factors
Dynamic text with glue
Basic SPC
Very basic functions
Super simple loops

Anya Ferguson

Healthcare Analyst

Anya is a healthcare analyst at the Strategy Unit, where she uses a range of statistical modelling and analysis techniques to provide insight to questions regarding public health. Anya enjoys teaching R and in her previous role as an Information Analyst in an NHS Trust she created learning materials and lead training sessions to introduce R to the team for automation of workflows and data analysis
