Jess Morley is a researcher at the University of Oxford. She is policy lead at the oxford Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science, and a PhD researcher at the Oxford Internet Institute. Her work focuses on how to ensure the use of NHS data for research and analysis is socially acceptable, ethically justifiable, technically feasible and legally compliant. Most recently, Jess was the lead researcher for the Goldacre Review Better, Broader, Safer. Prior to working in academia full-time, Jess was a civil servant working for the Department of Health and latterly NHSX.

Heather is a Research Software Engineering Fellow in the Statistics Department at the University of Warwick. She has previously worked as a statistician for Pfizer and as a freelance statistical programming consultant. She has been an R user since 2001 and has co-authored several CRAN packages, notably the statistical modelling packages gnm, BradleyTerry2 and PlackettLuce. Heather is on the board of the R Foundation and chairs the R Contribution Working Group. She is also a leader of the Forwards taskforce for underrepresented groups and a co-organizer of R-Ladies Remote and the Warwick R User Group.

Iain is a versatile visualisation, data, and software engineer. He enjoys using computers to answer questions.
He has an MSc and PhD in Geographic Information Science from City, University of London, where he was lucky enough to be part of the giCentre. After graduating, he spent a year as a research fellow in GeoInformatics at the University of St Andrews. He then spent four years with Verisk Maplecroft as a software and data engineer, and 2.5 years with Polecat as a data visualisation engineer. Since March 2021, he has been a software developer at the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science at the University of Oxford, working on OpenSAFELY.

Dr Richard Wood is Head of Modelling and Analytics at NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care System (BNSSG ICS), which oversees the organisation of healthcare services across a one million resident population in South West England. He has a background in Operational Research and Mathematical Modelling and has applied various quantitative techniques to a number of settings from mathematical biology to financial risk capital modelling. He particularly enjoys working at the interface of academic theory and practical application.

Zehra Önen-Dumlu is a post-doctoral research associate at the University of Bath School of Management in the Information, Decisions and Operations division. She is currently involved in various projects in collaboration with the NHS Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board. Her research focuses on healthcare operations management. She is mainly interested in developing and investigating models under uncertainty that will help decision making, improve healthcare operations and global health systems.

I am a Senior Analytical Manager with the NHSE South West Performance Analysis Team since November 2021. Prior to that I worked for a mental health provider for 7 years and have worked in management information for the police and child protection for around 5 years. My previous work roles have been DVLA prosecutor, legal cashier, costume designer and professional goblin (yes I was paid to goblin). I have just completed my MSc in Healthcare Data Science and very keen in seeing how to embed robust statistics and modern data science in to more day to day analytics, I firmly believe we should be bringing these into the operational day job to support data driven decisions. I have been using R for around 4 years and love stumbling on a library that does exactly what I need. I am reasonable at SQL and get by in Python. I am a NHSR community fellow, SPC champion and lead for the SW region of APHA. In my spare time I am a massive geek and love to play dungeons and dragons and also running ultra-marathons (very slowly).

An Economic Analyst in the Economics & Strategic Analysis (ESA) team at NHS England, having joined the team for two years ago following a BSc in Economics and MSc in Economics & Health Economics at the University of Sheffield. ESA operates as an in-house consultancy, working on diverse projects across all areas of the NHS. My interests are in programming (R, Rust, C++, C, Python, Objective-C), econometric modelling, applying economic theory to healthcare, data science methods as well as software development.

Vivek Verma works as a Research Consultant at Cytel, Inc. He has worked on real-world data analytics and methodological projects, ranging from analyses for regulatory bodies and publications to benchmarking novel machine learning and causal inference methods. Vivek received his PhD in Medicine from McGill University in Canada. He has over ten years of experience in conducting clinical research to investigate complex disease traits for pharmacological targets, to identify biomarkers, and to assess treatment safety and efficacy. His broad range of expertise also encompasses bioinformatics, genetic epidemiology, genomics, transcriptomics, and single-cell analyses. With more than twenty peer-reviewed scientific articles and several international conference presentations, he has proven proficiency in scientific communication and knowledge mobility.

I work as a Senior Public Health Analyst in the Public Health - Evidence and Intelligence team for Hertfordshire County Council. I have a background in epidemiology and health data analytics, having previously worked as an Analyst in the NHS, and have used R extensively for everything data related over the past six years. I have also recently completed the Health Service Modelling Associates Programme at NIHR PenARC, led by Dr. Daniel Chalk.

Anne delivers analytical projects that address key challenges in health and care with a particular interest in health inequalities.
Before joining the Health Foundation in January 2021, Anne previously worked as an insight analyst for NHS Blood and Transplant. Prior to that she worked as a data and research analyst in Cancer Research UK.
She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University of Surrey and a masters in Health Psychology from University College London

Martina Fonseca is a senior analyst at NHS England, in the Digital Analytics and Research Team (DART), where she supports the digital transformation agenda through advanced analytics and modelling. Previously she worked as an analyst in the NHS Cancer Programme and as an operational research analyst in the Civil Service. She has a PhD in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering from University College London. Key interests include the use of statistical modelling, simulation and optimisation applied to health service problems.
